Our ChangePlay™ Workshop
What Is ChangePlay?
ChangePlay is an innovative and interactive workshop that gives teams the insights to productively – and proactively -- navigate through a specific business change, whether it is a re-org, merger, new initiative or any change that significantly affects how the team works. The workshop is designed to:
- Inject fresh insights and shift perspectives about the current change challenge
- Uncover and breakthrough both the emotional and rational issues the team faces
- Create a more collaborative understanding and approach to the change challenge
- Develop action plans and commitments
- Access and work with resilience-based behaviors and attitudes
- Create a common language and framework to sustain progress and build Change Competence
The workshop blends learning from resilience theory, change theory, social sciences and our own research. It builds on the universal path of change but goes a level deeper because it gives teams the tools to not only move along the path, but to do so with more conscious choice and ease.

Who is it for?
ChangePlay is designed for teams and working groups who are in the midst of navigating through a business change and/or organizational transition.
How much time does it take?
The workshop takes one full day.
When does it work best?
ChangePlay is designed to help teams grapple with the challenges and new demands of the transition they are going through. These stressors can range from integration overload and keeping morale positive, to learning how to work in new ways. We recommend ChangePlay for teams who have stepped in to the specific change journey and are in the early to mid stages of the transition.
How does it work?
ChangePlay uses our ChangeCast Archetypes combined with an engaging metaphor: the change the team is facing can be experienced like a play -- complete with a storyline, Protagonists who help them effectively move through the path of change, and Antagonists who hinder their progress.
There are eight Protagonists who personify key success traits in change. They are based on the Change Archetypes. To meet the Protagonists, click here.
But, there are also Antagonists who embody concerns that can sabotage teams. For example: "The Speculator" spends lots of time and energy hypothesizing about what might happen. "The Clinger" clings to old ways of doing things or gets entrenched in old beliefs.
The interplay of these characters influences a team's effectiveness in change. Workshop participants will be able to objectively identify and discuss which Protagonists are on stage for them in the Change Play -- and which ones aren't. They will also see which Antagonists are disrupting them. These insights help the team to see how they can re-direct their storyline. They then collaborate to "re-cast" the action and develop concrete plans to move forward more powerfully on the path of change.
This approach is not only deeply insightful and actionable, but fun!
What are people saying about ChangePlay?
"I would recommend this to anyone going through dramatic change or transformation in the organization. It's great for when you're at a checkpoint in the change where new demands are being placed on the leaders and people and it requires them to rethink how they're operating. ChangePlay™ helped people consciously think about how they're showing up today, as well as what they need to do differently. And it helped my team realize they're not the only ones sitting in that space [i.e., experiencing difficultly]."

"I thought the content was great overall. It really resonates as we all have those little voices in our heads. And it's actionable. I really liked the practical aspect of your content...nice framework...and very original."
---Workshop participant
"It was valuable for the team to help us get through this next phase and figure out exactly what we needed to do. The exercise of exploring each [Protagonist] and having people describe their function really crystallized their purpose in the change. It helped us clarify our needs and develop actions."
---Workshop participant
"Learning about the Antagonists was really important because I saw how they come on stage daily and mess with me. Just acknowledging them helps me change on a dime."
